Bedding In the past people have always used newspaper as the bedding for the bird cage. From a pet supplies point of view this is a poor choice. Using pine or cedar shavings is a much better idea. They are far more absorbent and you will have to clean the cage out less often. They are also much better for the bird to chew on then newspaper.
Toys Toys are vital to the cockatiel. They are a bird that can become bored very easily. As such you need to provide toys that will allow for stimulation on a constant basis. When the cockatiel becomes bored it can become violent, aggressive, and even a danger to itself. Feather plucking is a common side effect of a bored bird.
